My Wife of Crime

I absolutely love my wife and have had many enjoyable moments with her in the years that we have been married. But, if it had not been for the grace of God this may never have been possible. You see, years before I had ever met my wife she had developed an addiction to methamphetamines and alcohol. In order to support her habits my wife resorted to a life of crime.
So, for those of you who are contemplating a change of vocation that might include crime, or if you know of someone whom has embarked upon that path, you may wish to consider some of the lessons my wife learned in what NOT to do as a criminal...
1. When you steal someone's debit card DO NOT smile and wave at the camera at the ATM machine when you are withdrawing money.
2. When you steal someone's credit card DO NOT order things to be delivered to your home address.
3. When you write bad checks on a closed joint checking account DO NOT erase the other person's printed name from the check and then sign the check with your signature.
5. When your water has been turned off because the utility company does not accept payment from a closed checking account DO NOT go out to the meter and turn it back on yourself.
6. When you remove a lock from your water meter to turn it back on and a detective comes to your home and asks you who did it, DO NOT say "I did. I wanted to take a shower."
7. When you steal someone's cash and credit cards from their wallet DO NOT leave a note to them that says, "I'm sorry. Prosecute me."
I am glad to say that my wife did not succeed at her life of crime. This year she will be celebrating 8 years clean and sober as a result of the relationship she has with Jesus Christ. Because of what the Lord has done in her life she even received a bookkeeping position at a company where she was responsible for over $2,000,000 a year. Go figure!
If you know of someone who is struggling with addiction invite them to try a 12 Step Recovery meeting, pray with them, and ask them to receive Jesus Christ into their life.

hi steve, i was always too afraid of the "wrath of God" to do anything so bold as to steal, or commit crimes, however, you may know i have been in recovery for 13 years. i know what addiction is, and i still know with cigarettes, only they don't make me act like a fool or go home with someone i don't know! i'm glad your wife found her way. good story, best regards, sue thomHi Susan,I just noticed your comment from 2 1/2 years ago. Where did the time go?Anyway, congratulations on your sober time. My wife and I are both in recovery... one day at a time.Keep passing the message on, Susan. We are proud of you.Mark
Great article on addiction and recovery in Jesus Christ! Thanks for sharing. Angie :-) God bless!Hi Angie,Thanks... I thought I answered this comment over 2 years ago. HmmmGod bless you.Mark
Marc, I too lived a pretty hilarious yet sad, life of crime myself. I guess you could say that crime does not pay, especially for someone like myself who got caught, more than 20 times, and went to jail, prison or rehab, MORE than 20 times. HAHA. But seriously, I am glad that your wife and your self have many y;ears of recovery under your belts now, as do I. I attribute that to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. May the Divine Mercy of Jesus be with you both.Thank you Sara!May His mercies continue to be with you also, my friend.Mark
